More About Me
My interest in psychology began in high school where I took my first psychology class, and it piqued my natural curiosity about how and why we are who we are. After getting my psychology degree from the American University in Cairo in 2012, I spent five years working and training in a private psychiatric hospital in Cairo. In this time, I gained a lot of experience in offering therapy to a wide range of clients both during hospitalization and after. I found I am passionate about working directly with clients and a developing a trusting therapeutic relationship in a safe space. I then moved to the Netherlands in 2019 and studied at Webster University Leiden pursuing my M.A. in Counseling Psychology. I graduated with honors from Webster in 2021. I am currently a member of the Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen (NIP Number: 235925) and adhere to their code of ethics.
I have worked with many individuals from diverse and varied backgrounds. Creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space is my main priority; it is the building block upon which a therapeutic relationship can develop. I will always strive to hold this space for all my clients regardless of gender, ethnicity, lifestyle, sexuality or gender identity. My individualized approach means I work from an intersectional perspective.
Sometimes we can find it hard to get in touch with our voice when it gets drowned out by others’ expectations of us or even societal standards. As a therapist, I feel it’s not my place to take stances on anyone’s choices, but rather help empower my clients to understand themselves and reconnect to their inner voice, what feels right for you. In this way, my role is facilitating change but how and when this change occurs is completely up to you. It is an honor to accompany you on your journey wherever your voice might lead.
